CREEPY MONSTERS ARE COMING

Nonostante non festeggi Halloween, volevo augurare a tutti una buona "notte delle streghe". Ho scelto quest'immagine di Miu Miu perchè mi è sempre sembrata "ambigua"; sotto poi un facile tutorial per sembrare una perfetta strega alla moda.

Even if i don't celbrate Halloween, i wanted to wish you all a "nice witches night". I chose this Miu Miu picture because it has always felt ambiguous to me; you can also find a easy tutorial just under to look like a prefect fashion witch.

MY MESSY HAIR

Credo di non aver mai fatto segreto del fatto che i mie i capelli siano particolarmente ribelli. Preferisco quindi tenerli sempre legati, oppure coprirli direttamente. Ieri , curiosando su THE SARTORIALIST, mi sono imbattuta in questa bellissima foto, e ho preso spunto.

I think i've never hidden the fact that my hair are particularly rebellious.

That's why i prefer to keep them tieten up, or cover them directly. Yesterday, while browsing through THE SARTORIALIST, i saw this beautiful picture, and i was ispired by it.

Il libro che voglio consigliarvi oggi mi sta particolarmente a cuore: Ken Saro-Wiwa è stato uno tra i più importanti scrittori e attivisti Nigeriani, terra in cui io ho vissuto 18 anni e che mi sento quindi di definire "casa".

The book i'd like to suggest you today is close to my heart: Ken Saro-Wiwa was one of the most important nigerian activist and journalist, a land where i have lived for 18 years and that i can call "home".

A partire dagli anni 80 questo importante giornalista rivendica i diritti della della popolazione del delta del Niger, che si vede danneggiati i propri raccolti e il proprio ecosistema a causa delle continue perdite di petrolio riversate nell'ambiente da importanti multinazionali come la Shell.

From the 80's this important journalist claimed the rights of the Niger's population, whose yields wear damaged by the leak of oil in the enviroment by important multinationals such as Shell.

La prefazione del libro, inoltre, è a cura di Roberto Saviano, figura emblematica che nel nostro "bel paese" ha severamente e coraggiosamente denunciato un'altra profonda ingiustizia : la Camorra.

Besides, the introduction of the book has been written by Roberto Saviano, a emblematic fugure that in our "beautiful country" has strictly and bravely accused another terrible injustice: the mafia.

I LOOK LIKE MUM

Mia madre sostiene sempre che nei miei look non ci sia poi molta originalità: nelle foto che mi scatto lei dice di rivedere se stessa da giovane, molti anni fa.

My mother says that my looks are not so original after all: in the pictures that i take of myself she says that she sees herself, a lot of years ago.

Così oggi ho pensato di postare le foto in formato Polaroid, in modo tale che l'associazione le riesca ancora più facile!

So this is why today i decided to post my pics in Polaroids, so that the association will be easier fo her!

Di una cosa però sono certa cara mamma: per vestiti simili a questi avresti speso molto di più. Io ho comprato top e pantaloni al mercato, pagandoli 1 euro l'uno! Non originale, quindi, ma sicuramente economico!

But of one thing I'm sure, dear mum: for similar clothes you would have spend more. I bought the top anD the pants at the market and payed each item only 1 euro! Not original, ok, but very inexpensive!

PURA LOPEZ

Come ogni donna, il mio amore per le scarpe è davvero infinito e immenso; senza i tacchi, poi, non posso proprio vivere, tanto che anche per andare a fare la spesa li indosso sempre.

Like every women, my love for shoes is everlasting and immense; also i can't live without high heels, and i even wear them to go to the supermarket.

Uno dei miei brand preferiti è sicuramente Pura Lopez, una linea spagnola che non smette mai di sorprendermi. Oltre ad essere comodissime, queste scarpe sono studiate e lavorate in ogni minimo dettaglio, cosa che rende più semplice non pensare al prezzo!

One of my favourite brand is definitly Pura Lopez, a spanish trademark that never stops surprising me. Besides beeing very confortable, every single detail has been studied and perfectly worked, something that makes it more easy not to think about the price!

I miei look sono sempre piuttosto semplici; quello che cerco di fare è dare al tutto un tocco in più con qualche piccolo dettaglio: qui le protagoniste sono sicuramente le scarpe, ma con un pò di rossetto rosso e un foulard in testa anche l'outfit più misero risulterà originale.

My looks are always quite simple; what i try to do is to give to the whole thing a little something more by adding some simple details: here the “leading actresses“ are the shoes, but with a little bit of red lipstick and a scarf in the hair, even the poorest outfit will seem original.

WOOLEN LOVE

I miei principali "must have" per il terribile inverno 2010/2011 saranno i maglioni lavorati a maglia e le calze in lana.

For this terrible winter 2010/2011 my must have will be woolen socks and sweaters.

Non sono molto freddolosa in genere, quindi il mio non è un disperato tentativo di ripararmi dal freddo: più che altro credo che questi capi invernali, se ben abbinati, siano sì confortevoli ma anche molto, molto femminili.

I can quite tolerate cold weather usually, so this is not a desperate attempt to keep myself from freezing: i just really think that those winter clothings, if well worn, can be confy but at the same time very, very feminine.

Questo è ciò che ho indossato il weekend scorso per ripararmi dal freddo e dalla pioggia; il maglione è stato comprato da zara nel periodo dei saldi. Esattamente non ricordo quando, ma rovistando nell'armadio è saltato fuori!

This is what i worn the past weekend to fight against cold and rain; the sweather was bought at zara during sales time. Don't know exactly when, but looking through my closet it popped out!

CHANGING MY MIND

Ieri ho trascorso una piacevole serata con le amiche; niente di speciale: aperitivo più cinema. Siamo andate a vedere Gorbaciof e ve lo consiglio vivamente.

Yesterday i spent a lovely night with some of my friends; nothing special: just aperitif plus cinema. We went to see Gorbaciof, an italian movie.

La camicia che indosso mi è stata regalata da mia sorella; quando ho letto da dove proveniva, mi sono stupita: confesso che, oltre a qualche costume a tinta rigorosamente unita, non ho mai comprato nulla da Yamamay perchè l'ho sempre ritenuta una marca poco femminile.

The blouse i'm wearing was given to me by my sister; when i read where it was coming from i was surprised: i must say that besides some bikinis in plain colours, i never bought anything from Yamamay 'coz i've always considered it as a non feminine brand

Credo che dovrò ri-credermi.

COSY TUESDAY

Uno dei miei più grandi difetti è quello di impiegare davvero troppo tempo nella scelta del "cosa mi metto oggi?". Ormai ho imparato a conoscermi e preparo sempre la sera prima quello che indosserò il giorno dopo; è una questione di pura praticità perchè al lavoro voglio sempre essere puntuale e i mezzi milanesi di certo non aspettano me.

One of my biggest flaw is to waste too much time in deciding "what am i going to wear today?". I've learned to know myself better and i always prepare the night before the outfit for the day after; it's a matter of convenience 'coz i don't want to be late at work and the subway doesn't wait for me

Ho comprato una serie infinita di pantaloni di questo modello in diverse tonalità: li trovo adatti all'ambiente lavorativo, versatili nochè molto "fashion" (cavolo, odio questa parola!)

I bought a series of this pants in different colours: they're great for the work place, they're versatile and last but not least very fahionable (oh, i hate this word!)

L'anno scorso, poi, sono riuscita a portarmi a casa questo gilet in lana con tanto di faux fur; trovo semplicissimo abbinarlo perchè si adatta a molte delle tonalità autunnali.

E voi, quanto ci mettete a prepararvi per gli impegni quotidiani?

Last year i also bought this knitwear vest with faux fur; i find it very easy to match 'coz it goes well with all the different fall shades.

Una delle cose che più mi piace fare, oltre andare al cinema, è leggere; si, lo so, sono una ragazza noiosa, ma da quando vivo da sola mi sono accorta che ci vorrebbe una stanza per i miei vestiti e una per i mie libri, perché sono davvero tantissimi.

Besides going to the cinema, one of the things i mostly like to do is reading; yes, i know, i'm kind of a boring girl, but i realized that i'd really need a closet for my clothes and a room for my books 'coz they're too many

Volevo quindi inaugurare una piccola rubrica sul mio blog dedicata appunto alla lettura; mi piacerebbe, di tanto in tanto, recensire o consigliarvi i libri che ho letto o che sto leggendo, quindi partiamo subito e fate un applauso per Mr. Paul Auster!

La Trilogia di New York è il libro che più ho apprezzato di quest'autore, un trittico suddiviso appunto in tre storie poliziesche ambientate tutte a New York, dipinta come una città magica e surreale ma allo stesso tempo "malefica".

The New York Trilogy is one of Auster's book i mostly appreciated, a triptych on spy stories all placed in New York, a city described as magical and surreal but at the same time kind of "dark".

Non preoccupatevi se le spy-stories non sono proprio il vostro genere: qui c'è molta filosofia e i misteri delle indagini non fanno altro che da sfondo alle tre vicende.

Città di vetro è senza dubbio la mia preferita: Quinn, il protagonista, riceve più volte nel cuore della notte una telefonata da un individuo disperato che cerca un certo "Paul Auster"; essendo la sua vita monotona e priva di legami affettivi, Quinn finisce per assumere l'identità del fantomatico Auster, ma...

Don't worry if you're not really into detective stories: there's a lot of philosophy here and the investigations are just the background.

City of glass is my favourite one: Quinn receives some strange phone calls in the middle of the night from a desperate guy searching for "Paul Auster"; because of his lack of affection and boring life, Quinn decides to still Auster's identity, but...

STRIPES: WHAT AN INVENTION!

Immagino che a tutte voi capitano i giorni no, quei giorni in cui ti alzi e avresti solo voglia di rimanere in pigiama. Giorni in cui non sai cosa metterti e l'armadio ti sembra stranamente spoglio. Ecco, in questi giorni le mie "crocerossine" sono le righe: tutto ciò che è navy va sempre bene, e state certe che non potete sbagliare.

So i guess that each one of you has one of those bad days, when you don't want to get up and you'd just want to stay in your pigiama. Days when you have no idea what to wear and the wardrobe looks kind of bare. In those days my helpfull friends are stripes: everything that's navy will work, and you'll be sure you won't go wrong

Ieri ho abbinato questo semplicissimo tubino ad un giubottino di jeans, un paio di trampoli e il gioco è fatto! Solitamente mi piace aggiungere accessori sui toni del marrone che trovo si sposino molto bene con il denim.
